Although it seemed the casting blitz of Jonathan Liebesman's "Ninja Turtles" was done for the time being, The Hollywood Reporter has just posted information to the contrary. "Arrested Development" actor Will Arnett has been cast in the Michael Bay-produced film in an unspecified mystery role. Arnett's casting comes mere weeks after the motion capture roles of the fab four ninja brothers were filled, with Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Noel Fisher as Michaelangelo and Jeremy Howard as Donatello. Arnett joins the four recently-cast actors as well as "Transformers" alum Megan Fox, who was announced as April O'Neil in February.
Arnett definitely adds some star power to the film with a long television career including starring roles in "Arrested Development" and "Up All Night," and a recurring guest role in "30 Rock" as Devon Banks. Although it's currently unknown who Arnett will portray in the Turtle-verse, there are plenty of roles in the comics origin that need to be filled.
Announcing a new addition to the cast is certainly a positive step for the reboot, which has seen its fair share of starts and stops during production, fan backlash to rumored changes in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's" core concepts and differing takes on the situation from both TMNT co-creators, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. After an announced stop to production last year, the film is back on track to begin production in April for a May 2014 target release date.
