While it was previously rumored that Tom Hiddleston was up for the lead role in "The Crow" reboot, it seems it may no longer be true. However, "True Blood" Alexander Skarsgard may be the new frontrunner for the role. The film, based on the graphic novel by James O'Barr, the most recent incarnation of the remake will be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez and written by Jesse Wigutow. Rumors have been plentiful on casting with names including Hiddleston, Skarsgard and James McAvoy.

GEARS OF WAR

Variety reports that video game mega-franchise "Gears of War" may finally be closer to getting a film in development. While the adaptation doesn't yet have talent, a writer or a distributor, Scott Stuber is coming on to produce, and will develop a script with Epic Games, the series' creator. Stuber has a first look deal with Universal.

"Gears of War" has had a rocky road to development, having been let go by New Line Cinema due to creative differences between the studio and Epic Games.

THE STRAIN

Guillermo del Toro's "The Strain" pilot for FX announced that "Lost" alum Kevin Durand would join the adaptation of the novel written by del Toro and Chuck Hogan. Durand will play Vasily Fet, a Ukranian-American exterminator that works for the New York City Bureau of Pest Control, lending his expertise to hunting the city's vampire invaders.
