THE AVENGERS 2

SuperHeroHype has started speculation of who Marvel might cast as the Scarlet Witch in "The Avengers 2," reporting the rumor that Marvel's template for the character is Irish actress Saoirse Ronan. Most will likely know her from her starring role in "Hanna," about the 16-year-old who was raised by her father to be the perfect assassin. Ronan also played Melanie Stryder/Wanda in the film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's "The Host."

For those not interested in rumor, here's a cool infographic from Empire Online that links up the Marvel films all the way through to the possible Phase Three of the cinematic universe.

STAR WARS

MTV spoke with J.J. Abrams about his role as "Star Wars" director and how the spinoff films might depend on the success of "Episode VII."

"We're focusing right now on this because this movie feels like this is the one that has to work for anything else to work," Abrams told MTV. "There are discussions about what would happen later and how to make this thing and to tell the story, you can't look at it in a binary way. It's obviously part of something much greater. To talk about those off-shoot films, that's something have to talk about with Kathleen Kennedy."

BIG HERO 6

After the announcement of "Big Hero 6" as Disney's first full-length Marvel animated film, CBR spoke with the team's creators Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau about Disney taking on the team.

"The good news is that Big Hero 6 has just a handful of appearances ever in the Marvel Universe, so for new audiences, it's great because you don't need to know a lot about them to get into them," Seagle told CBR. "It's also a pretty simple concept to grasp, so I think [director] Don Hall was pretty smart in picking something a little more obscure because it's wide-open for a mass audience and they don't need to feel like there's a lot of baggage they don't get jumping into that movie. I think that's probably going to work really to their advantage."

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS

Here's something interesting on the "Dungeons & Dragons" film from Deadline -- apparently Warner Bros. plans for a D&D feature may have hit a wall as Hasbro, which claims to own the rights to the property, has already set up a project at Universal to be developed for director Chris Morgan. This ought to be an interesting film to watch, as Hasbro acquired "Dungeons & Dragons" current publisher Wizards of the Coast in 1998. New Line distributed the 2000 "Dungeons & Dragons" film directed by Courtney Solomon (who is slated to produce Warner Bros. version of the film), so it's anybody's guess as to whose version of the movie will actually see the light of day.

24

"24" may be coming back to television as a limited series. Deadline reports star Kiefer Sutherland is currently in talks to reprise his role as Jack Bauer, the man who has more ridiculous days than anybody else on the planet. Supposedly, the pitch by longtime "24" showrunner Howard Gordon, which would start from scratch with a new storyarc. I'm not sure how a limited series would work with "24," as part of the draw of the television show was 24 episodes of a single hour of television apiece, but there will certainly be some die-hard fans excited about Sutherland's return as Jack Bauer.
