Director Zack Snyder's 2006's adaptation of Frank Miller's "300" not only made him one of the go-to guys in Hollywood for comic book adaptations, it was also a major box office hit. Now Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have released the first full-length trailer for its sequel, "300: Rise of an Empire," which opens March 7, 2014 in theatres and IMAX.

The new film is based based on Miller's prequel graphic novel "Xerxes," and is directed by Noamm Murro with a screenplay by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad. The two and a half-minute trailer offers the first look at Xerxes' (Rodrigo Santoro) rise to power, long before he ever ran afoul of the Sparta, as Greek general Themoistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) tries to unite Greece and change the course of the war.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures present, a Cruel and Unusual Films/Mark Canton/Gianni Nunnari Production, “300: Rise of an Empire.” The action adventure stars Sullivan Stapleton (“Gangster Squad”) as Themistokles and Eva Green (“Dark Shadows,” “Casino Royale”) as Artemisia. Lena Headey reprises her starring role from “300” as the Spartan Queen, Gorgo; Hans Matheson (“Clash of the Titans”) stars as Aeskylos; David Wenham returns as Dilios, and Rodrigo Santoro stars again as the Persian King, Xerxes.
