THE AVENGERS 2

The Empire Online Podcast spoke with Joss Whedon about "Much Ado About Nothing," and the director also spoke about his plans for "The Avengers 2." (Transcribed by Comic Book Movie)

"Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, very close to my heart because they were Avengers the whole time I was reading the book as a kid," Whedon told Empire Online. "Oh, and sometimes they were 'EVIL' but sometimes they were good. They're very textured, they're very different from everybody else in the mix. They're not their to make things easier on The Avengers but what we do with the group once we've got them is 'squeeze.' The fun I'm having doing that is probably unseemly."

Whedon also seemingly confirmed that Loki will not appear in the sequel, stating, "Loki's not there to say those terrible things." While this is far from an official announcement, it certainly seems likely that Whedon would want to switch up the villains.

Metro.co.uk also spoke with the director about what fans can expect from the anticipated sequel.

"In my vernacular there are two gold standards for sequels: 'The Godfather Part II' and 'The Empire Strikes Back,'" Whedon said. "They are darker films but they are not suddenly pretentious and losing the mission. The joy of the thing is important: the exaltation, the nobility, the humour and the humanity. But you do need to bleed with these people a little bit or you won’t want to spend another day with them."

Y: THE LAST MAN

It's been a while since anything was heard on the film adaptation for "Y: The Last Man," but producer David S. Goyer spoke with Crave Online, confirming that the project is still breathing.

"We’ve got a script that’s as close as it’s ever been, so knock on wood," Goyer told Crave Online.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Comic Book Therapy has posted quotes from Bryan Singer during an interview with SFX Magazine where the director spoke about how his "X-Men" franchise compares to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"You can never compete with that. Tonally it’s a very different experience as the X-Men movies operate on very specific themes and it’s a much more serious kind of universe as the Marvel movies universe is not so serious," Singer said. "It’s got its own emotional points and the characters are obviously amazing."

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN

CBR's TJ Deitsch spoke with "Ultimate Spider-Man" supervising producer Cort Lane about some of the upcoming material on the show and how the writing of episodes are structured.

"What we do is sort of a unique hybrid of a writer's room and the more regular story-editor-working-with-writers [set-up], we do both," Lane told CBR. "We have periodic story summits where the story editors, in this case Man of Action and a few key writers like Brian Michael Bendis and Paul Dini and Joe Quesada and Jeph Loeb and I, we're all there in the room and we break a series of stories over two days."
