Andy Kubert and DC Comics revive the recently deceased Damian Wayne in "Damian: Son of Batman," which takes place in a possible DC future

Depending on how one looks at it, DC Comics may be dipping back into their "Imaginary Story" trope for their latest series which resurrects recently deceased Robin Damian Wayne.

The NY Post has the news that this October, writer/artist Andy Kubert will launch the four-issue "Damian: Son of Batman" -- a series set in "a possible future that may never be."

"I had a big affinity for Damian when I drew 'Batman' issue #666," Kubert told the paper. "I really liked that Batman and always wanted to revisit him. Damian is a bit different than the 'Bruce Wayne' Batman. Grant Morrison tweaked his character in a way that made it very endearing for me to draw. And to write.

"Basically, what I'm doing is exploring the path that Damian has taken to become Batman. I think readers will see him in a different light than before."

Though he started out as a rather controversial character under Morrison and Kubert's guidance in the pages of "Batman" nearly seven years ago, Damian grew to be a fan favorite character and the latest incarnation of Robin before the writer that gave him life also took it earlier this year in the pages of "Batman Incorporated." But as Damian's potential future as the Batman of Gotham has been glimpsed both in issue #666 and other issues of Morrison's run, the publisher obviously feels there's more to be mined from the young hero even from beyond the grave.
