One more piece of the Batman legend is falling into place as part of DC Comics' "Zero Year" event.

Today, the publisher released to CBR News an exclusive first look Guillem March's "Batman" #24 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. The October installment of the "Zero Year" origin tale will not only include Capullo's mask-based cover but also March's variant featuring the rather iconic moment where the Red Hood falls into a vat of chemicals -- presumably to be transformed into the arch villain the Joker.

Of course, as with all things "Zero Year," the creators have made their best effort to play against the expectations. In an interview with CBR News earlier this year, Snyder and Capullo refused to commit to whether the man who's been wearing the pill-shaped helmet in their book is the actual Clown Prince of Crime. "Everyone knows that a person in the Red Hood – whether it's this guy or some other guy – at some point will fall into the chemicals and be connected to the Joker origin," the writer said. "But whether or not we're telling a definitive Joker origin in this is something we're not giving away."
