ARROW

Tonight marks the anticipated debut of Barry Allen in "Arrow," and the CW has released a clip of the future scarlet speedster geeking out over the Vigilante.

Meanwhile, CBR attended an advance press screening of the episode where the series producers and episode writer Geoff Johns spoke about Grant Gustin's portrayal of Barry Allen in the "Arrow"-verse.

"He's earnest," Johns told CBR News of Gustin. "Grant as an actor, he's brought more to Barry Allen than I think we've seen before, especially seeing him in the days of when he's taking his first steps. He's got that heart. He's got humor. He's got compassion -- Barry was always a nice guy. He's the guy that stops, makes sure everyone's alright and then keeps going. Grant embodies that."

Another tidbit from the screening revealed by TV Guide is that actress Alex Kingston will return to the show as Laurel Lance's mother, Dinah, in a future episode.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

A lot of advance marketing has gone into promoting the debut of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" trailer, including the full reveal of a banner that shows Electro, the Rhino and a Goblin-esque character.

MTV News spoke with actor Dane DeHaan about the Goblin figure in the banner, but he couldn't comment beyond very vague implications.

"The trailer comes out in three days, and a lot will be revealed then," DeHaan told MTV. "I'm an Osborn. It's a blurry photo. Just wait until you see the trailer."

USA Today spoke with director Mark Webb and star Andrew Garfield about the direction of the story and how it touches on themes of the Spider-Man legacy.

"Our story deals a lot in choice," Garfield told USA Today. "The power that you attain as a human being, it is your choice about what to do with it. And what's great about Spider-Man is he went from having no power, and the idea that absolute power corrupts absolutely, that is an incredibly rich idea to explore."

Webb further stated that Oscorp will continue to be a major player in the films.

"There's really one evil nemesis for Spider-Man that transcends Electro and the Lizard and the Goblin and Rhino," Webb said. "Oscorp is the evil empire and will always be a major player in these films."

X-FORCE

Apparently, Rob Liefeld has seen Jeff Wadlow's "X-Force" script and likes it. The comic creator took to Twitter, praising Wadlow's current treatment.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN

Latino Review has posted a transcript of an interview in this month's "Playboy" with Ben Affleck about taking on the role of Batman.

"I don’t want to give away too much, but the idea for the new Batman is to redefine him in a way that doesn’t compete with the Bale and Chris Nolan Batman but still exists within the Batman canon," Affleck told "Playboy." "It will be an older and wiser version, particularly as he relates to Henry Cavill’s Superman character."

Interestingly enough, Affleck also commented on the online backlash his casting announcement received from fans, specifically referencing "Daredevil."

"I understand I’m at a disadvantage with the internet," he said. "If I thought the result would be another 'Daredevil,' I’d be out there picketing myself. [laughs] Why would I make the movie if I didn’t think it was going to be good and that I can be good in it?"
