FANTASTIC FOUR VS. X-MEN
So here's an interesting saga of speculation and internet telephone that played out yesterday. Various sites, including The Hollywood Reporter, linked to a story on The Motley Fool analyzing companies that benefit from early relationships with Marvel. In a section about Fox, they reported the company had a plan to "combine the Fantastic Four and the X-Men for an 'Avengers'-style movie that could pay off huge for shareholders." It set off a lot of alarms and MTV News deconstructed the story. "When reached for clarification, the writer of the article cited two sources for his information: an article on news-site GeekExchange about Simon Kinberg's FOX deal; and the Wikipedia article for 'Fantastic Four vs. X-Men,'" they write. The GeekExchange article repeats early speculation and misquotes an even earlier comment from Mark Millar as proof of the plan. The Motley Fool amended it's article to say the film studio "may" combine the FF and the X-Men, with other sites updating their articles. One almost has to wonder if the story was put out there to gage interest in such a move, but it's likely just a lot of hopeful thinking.

THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON
Quoting a post from the Film Score Monthly message board, Comic Book Movie suggests that Brian Tyler will likely score the "Avengers" sequel. The message board user references a rather coy Twitter post from Tracksounds with CBM noting, "Tyler told Tracksounds recently that he used Silvestri's theme from the latter film for a key scene in 'Thor: The Dark World.' Furthermore, the conductor also revealed in the same interview that he has talked with composer Henry Jackman about his score for 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'. Perhaps, their 'chat' adds some sort of correlation with (and more legitimacy to) Brian Tyler scoring 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron.'" Nothing's confirmed, of course, and it's still early on, but with Tyler already working closely with the studio and composing the fanfare for their recent vanity card upgrade, it's fair to say he's a strong candidate for the job.
