Official Press Release

Hey, True Believer!

On behalf of everyone in The House, I want to thank the fine folks at

Diamond Comics Distribution, Quebecor, the comics media (both print and

online), and everyone who posted on message boards to help spread the word

of HEROES, our effort to raise money for - and salute - the world's real

heroes. Thanks to everyone's efforts, Diamond is now entirely sold out of

the first printing of HEROES - of which more than 20,000 were ordered

between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. today!

It's no secret that Marvel loves generating headlines - to get readers

excited not only about our comics but also about the entire comics industry

- but this time it's special. This time we're selling books for the best

reason of all: to help others. As you know, the proceeds from the sale of

the 64-page poster magazine will go to the Twin Towers Fund, which will in

turn give the money to the people who are truly in need.

It is my hope that every retailer across the country (and across the world)

has copies of HEROES in the front window and a big ol' stack by the cash

register. If your local store didn't order HEROES, please ask them to. A few

hours ago I received a call from a woman living in Florida who saw Joe

Quesada and Adam Kubert on the Today Show this morning (which is recapped

at: http://www.comicon.com/ubb/Forum13/HTML/000415.html), and wanted to buy

copies for her nieces and nephews. Believe it or not, not only did the

person working at her local comics shop not have copies of HEROES, but had

never even heard of the project! The good news is that they are now being

buried in phone calls asking about HEROES! So the job of informing both to

the retailing community and the outside world is not over!

For those of you who have been wishing that the mainstream news would cover

comic books, this is your day! In addition to Joe and Adam's seven minute

segment on the Today Show, HEROES has been covered by a wide variety of

outlets, including Newsweek, New York Newsday, The New York Post, The

Washington Post (online at: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/style/),

The Philadelphia Daily News, The Boston Herald, The Detroit Free Press, The

San Antonio Express-News, The Kansas City Star, The Dallas Morning News, The

Atlanta-Journal Constitution (online at:

http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/living/1017comicbooks.html),

National Public Radio, Reuters TV, Access Hollywood, and USA Today. And all

of that is in addition to the generous coverage by countless print and

online sources in our great comics community.

Once again, thanks for spreading the word... now get out there and buy

HEROES!

'Nuff Said!
