CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Comic Book Movie has posted new quotes from "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" actor Anthony Mackie in the latest issue of Total Film Magazine, where he details the difficulties of performing in wings and how the Falcon's suit might evolve as the franchise continues.

"It’s 10 times tougher performing with wings. "I’m like, ‘Wait, I’m the only dude that’s on strings? Everybody else gets to walk around or drive cars and I gotta fly?’ When we had our first conversation about the movie, my biggest statement to the Russos was, ‘You better not make me look like an idiot.’ That was my greatest fear," Mackie told Total Film. "Even though I wanted to wear red spandex, I was hugely afraid of looking like a pigeon! As the Falcon aged [in the comics] and grew up, his uniform grew up. The uniform we have now is the uniform of an adult… The Ultimate look gives him a sense of purpose and makes him look like a badass. The wings can look funny at times, so you have to do something to combat that – at no point in time do you want him to show up on film and have people laugh. That’s what we’ve been able to find, between the tactical suit and the Ultimate suit. As the franchise goes on and you see more of me and Captain America, the suit will evolve into the Ultimate look, the hard-leather black look. The suit that he has in this movie is more of a military suit because it’s the first time you see it."

ARROW

The CW has renewed "Arrow" for a third season, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise to those following the show's continued success. It's currently the network's most-watched series and is #1 in its Wednesday night time slot amongst males aged 18-49. That said, it'll be nice to see the continued adventures of Oliver Queen and company -- especially given "The Flash" gaining more casting news by the day.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

The official X-Men Movies Twitter has posted a new photo of Michael Fassbender as Magneto. Not much else to report here -- though the uniform does look pretty cool.

GOTHAM

Gary Oldman, "The Dark Knight" trilogy's Commissioner Gordon, spoke with Access Hollywood and gave some advice to recently-announced "Gotham" lead Ben McKenzie.

"Go back to the comic books. That’s what I did," Oldman told Access Hollywood. "There’s great stuff about Gordon. He had whole other life."

That's pretty good advice even if you're not playing Jim Gordon in an anticipated TV pilot.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Hasbro has released the first promotional image of its "Guardians of the Galaxy" toy line in an image that those following news of the anticipated film will be very familiar with: the line-up.

On top of that, there have been a few unofficial animated GIF files of Rocket Raccoon and Groot floating around -- there's really no way of knowing if these come from real footage (in all likelihood, they're cobbled together from bootleg footage from the Comic-Con 2013 preview -- the color is less than stellar.), or even if this represents the final design of the characters.

That said, it does look pretty awesome. If it's not real, hats off to whomever put it together.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

The Daily Bugle tumblr has been updated with an editorial from J. Jonah Jameson criticizing Spider-Man -- and teasing the existence of the Shocker.

Last December, Spider-Man pursued a bank robber named Herman Schultz who was using homemade weapons that emitted vibrational shock waves. Over two hundred photos of Schultz, hanging upside down from a twisted street light in a cocoon of webbing, were posted online. Including several with police officers (all of whom were reprimanded).

SPARKS

CBR spoke with legendary actor Clancy Brown about his role in "Sparks," the upcoming film adaptation of the Catastrophic Comics series of the same name.

"I liked the whole comment that it was making; that these things come at a price, and even though there's superpowers, they're more like gifts that we can choose to use one way or another," Brown told CBR. "We have characters that use them poorly or wrongly, and we have characters that don't know they have [powers], and perhaps some of them aren't exactly the kinds of things you'd necessarily want. I don't know exactly how to put it, I just like the subversive nature of it all -- that anti-glitz, anti-glamour take on it. It had a 'Watchmen' feel to it that I appreciated without it being overblown like 'Watchmen' was."

ROBOCOP

Spinoff Online spoke with "RoboCop" lead Joel Kinnaman about the challenge of stepping into the iconic genre role.

"The difficulty was that many of the most emotionally demanding scenes, I had to be completely still," Kinnaman told Spinoff Online. "Especially in the scenes when I wake up and when Dr. Norton reveals what’s left of me. Usually I think if you all think back to the moments when you’ve gone through the most pain in your life or the most severe anxiety, your body is very much involved in that. Your body is experiencing emotions. So when we as actors try to go and access those feelings, the body is a great tool to use. You clench your stomach or you do something physical so that sort of helps your emotions along the way. In this instance I didn’t have that luxury so there was that little higher level of difficulty, but what helped me out during most of these scenes was when I was looking into the truthful eyes of Mr. Oldman so that would always help. So that helped me out. But that was one of the difficulties of wearing the suit."

HAPPY BALE-ENTINES DAY

Today is, of course, Valentine's Day, but it's also a far more important holiday: Bale-entines Day: the day where you express your affection for others using images of Christian Bale. The holiday was originated by Dark Horse Comics editor Jim Gibbons, so go ahead and make some of your own Bale-entines to celebrate this glorious holiday.
