In December, Marvel solicited a comic titled "Survive" #1 for sale in March, providing no further details other than it was a one-shot written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Joe Quinones.

In an interview with the creative team posted Thursday on Marvel.com, the publisher disclosed that "Survive" is set in the aftermath of current Galactus-sparked Ultimate Comics event "Cataclysm: The Ultimates' Last Stand", and will depict the funeral of Ultimate Captain America.

"As we go around the room during Tony [Stark’s] very eloquent and heartfelt speech, we flash back into the world of Miles Morales, the world of Kitty Pryde, the world of Sue Storm, and we get to see the immediate fallout from the events of 'Cataclysm,' and how it is shaping them going forward," Bendis told Marvel.com. "We’re kind of setting up where the characters are headed. We think it’s a wonderful send-off to Captain America and what the Ultimates meant to all of us, and it also bridges where we’re going to go with all the franchises."

Fiffe Brings Teenage Action to "All-New Ultimates"

Following "Survive," three new Ultimate series are set to launch starting in April: "All-New Ultimates" by Michael Fiffe and Amilcar Pinna; "Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man" by Bendis and David Marquez; and "Ultimate FF" by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Mario Guevara. The "Survive" creative team says this one-shot serves as a bridge between "Cataclysm" and the next era of the Ultimate Universe.

"It’s a transformative time now in the Ultimate Universe. A generational shift," Quinones is quoted in the article. "The 'All-New Ultimates' are up to bat now and must grapple with the big red boots they have to fill. It’ll be fun to read about them coming into their own."
