During its recent ComicsPRO presentation, Dark Horse revealed that -- due to an overwhelming response of support from the comics community -- "The Sakai Project," the publisher's planned "Usagi Yojimbo" tribute book to benefit creator Stan Sakai, will increase its page count to 160, and offered at a price point of $29.99.

"The response has been overwhelming," Dark Horse VP of Publishing Randy Stradley told CBR exclusively. "We've had over two hundred artists respond! In a effort to keep the book affordable, we have decided to split the difference and publish the book at 160-pages, at $29.99 -- increasing the number of pages by a third, but increasing the price by only a sixth."

"The Sakai Project" contains many of the pieces that will be sold at auction to help benefit Sakai and his wife, Sharon, who is currently battling a debilitating brain tumor. Contributors include Mike Mignola, Frank Cho, Jack Davis, Adam Hughes and many more. All proceeds from tribute book will go directly to Stan and Sharon Sakai.

"The Sakai Project" is scheduled to hit stores July 23.

Starting Thursday, March 6, the Comics Art Professional Society will hold a series of original art auctions on eBay to benefit the Sakais. The auctions will last for 10 days, with new sets of art up for bid each Thursday under the seller name "CAPSauction."
