Since his return in the pages of "Superior Spider-Man," many fans wondered what the future role of Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man of 2099, would be in the modern Marvel Universe. According to Newsarama, Miguel is prolonging his stay in the present for a new "Spider-Man 2099" ongoing series written by original "Spider-Man 2099" scribe Peter David and "Fearless Defenders" artist Will Sliney. Trapped in the past, Miguel O'Hara has taken a job with Alchemax -- the mega conglomeration that grows to rule the future of 2099 -- and the series, launching in July, will explore O'Hara's attempts to reform Tiberius Stone, head of Alchemax in the present day, to help save his future.

"Miguel is going to be endeavoring to reform Tiberius Stone; to make him into someone who cares about other people and might actually do a better job of raising Tyler Stone and thus make Miguel's life easier," David told Newsarama. "Not to mention that he will try to exert influence over what sort of company Alchemax develops into."

Newsarama also posted Sliney's designs for "Spider-Man 2099, along with the first series cover by Simone Bianchi.

"Miguel is now trapped in the present day Marvel Universe, so straight away we have to deal with the fact that in the greatest of Marvel traditions, we have a hero out of time,” Sliney told Newsarama. "I'm looking forward to drawing that iconic costume in the surroundings of some of New York's gritty and textured looking neighborhoods."

"Spider-Man 2099" launches in July.
