Fox's "Fantastic Four" reboot looks to have chosen its Doctor Doom: Variety reports that 31-year-old British actor Toby Kebbell is Fox's pick for the part, with a deal in the works.

Like the rest of the "Fantastic Four" cast, Kebbell is young, and despite a large list of credits -- including this summer's "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" -- not a household name. Last month, Kebbell was reported to be one of four contenders for the role of the long-running Marvel villain, along with Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne and Domhnall Gleeson.

Kebbell will be the second actor to portray the character in a feature film, following Julian McMahon's performance in 2005's "Fantastic Four" and its 2007 sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer." If a deal is made, the actor -- whose appearances also include "Wrath of the Titans," "War Horse" and "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" -- would join a cast headlined by Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards, Kate Mara as the Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch/Johnny Storm and Jamie Bell as the Thing/Ben Grimm.

One of the most recognizable villains in superhero comics, the character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first introduced in 1962's "Fantastic Four" #5. Though primarily associated as a Fantastic Four villain, over the years he's been positioned against a number of Marvel Comics heroes.

Directed by Josh Trank, "Fantastic Four" is scheduled for release on June 19, 2015. A sequel has already been scheduled for July 14, 2017.
