JUSTICE LEAGUE

It's official: Zack Snyder will direct "Justice League" for Warner Bros, which will follow 2016's "Man of Steel" sequel. A script is currently in development for the film, though details are very sparse. It's likely that the film will -- at the very least -- include Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

The Wall Street Journal reports that there are several other DC Comics properties in development at Warner Bros. including "Shazam," "Metal Men," "100 Bullets" and "Fables."

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

USA Today spoke with Karen Gillan about her role as Nebula in "Guardians of the Galaxy," who she describes as "unapologetically so mean."

"She gets such an enjoyment from what she does, and what she does is so bad," Gillan told USA Today. "She completely has a reason for being a sadist, but that may not be apparent to everybody else."

USA Today also posted a new image of Gillan as Nebula:

Ophelia Lovibond, who plays Carina in the upcoming film, spoke with Flicks and the City about who viewers might have a chance to see her interact with.

"My scenes are with Benicio del Toro and Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt," said Lovibond. "Many with Benicio, though."

Variety reports from C2E2 2014 that Stan Lee will have a cameo in "Guardians of the Galaxy." Previously, Lee stated that he wouldn't appear in the film, but it seems as though that's no longer the case.

"I can’t tell you what it is, but I can tell you I do not understand what it was or why I did it," Lee said during a C2E2 panel. "It has me with a girl -- a very pretty girl -- that’s all I can tell you."

MARVEL NETFLIX

ComicBook.com has posted an exerpt from Joe Quesada's recent appearance on Kevin Smith's "Fatman on Batman" podcast that covers Marvel's upcoming Netflix series, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"Although these are superhero stories, this is different now. This is the street level…this is the street level noir side of the Marvel Universe. Something that you haven’t really, really seen in any of our Marvel movies," said Quesada. "And probably more ground level, than I think you’ve seen. This is not like us doing Batman, Dark Knight or any of that stuff. This is very Marvel doing street level superheroes.

"The scripts are coming in," Quesada continued. "They are pretty fantastic. They’re really emotional. They’re very, very original. But at the same time, it is Daredevil. It is Matt Murdock. We will eventually, hopefully start casting really, really soon, but I’m very, very excited about it."

BATMAN: ASSAULT ON ARKHAM

Warner Bros. has released the trailer for its next DC Comics-based animated feature, "Batman: Assault on Arkham," which takes place in the world of the "Arkham" video game series. As such, it features the return of Kevin Conroy as Batman and "Batman: Arkham Origins" voice actor Troy Baker returning as the Joker.
