"Amazing Spider-Man 2" faced tough competition at the North American box office Friday, as the debuting R-rated comedy "Neighbors" brought in almost twice as much money as the sequel did as it entered its second weekend.
In "Neighbors," Rogen plays a new dad whose suburban life is interrupted when a fraternity moves in next door. Zac Efron plays the fraternity president.
The trade reports that "Neighbors" is expected to top the North American box office with an estimated $49 million, while "Amazing" is looking at an estimated $37 million.
"Amazing Spider-Man 2," which stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx, brought in $91.6 million in North America last weekend and has made more than $450 million globally.
