DC Comics has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at Ben Oliver's variant cover for "Justice League United" #2, written by Jeff Lemire with interior art by Mike McKone. The issue, on sale June 11, sees Hawkman in a showdown with Lobo and an appearance from Supergirl. As such, the Girl of Steel features prominently on the cover, surrounded by other members of the newly-formed Justice League: Hawkman, Adam Strange, Stargirl, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Animal Man and Cree heroine Equinox. Oliver's other credits include "The Authority," "Judge Dredd" and "Ultimate X-Men."

"There is big drama and big high stakes action-adventure and there is also really small human moments whether that be through humor or whatever," Lemire told CBR in March. "For me, I think the strength of my writing has always been the emotional content or the character work so I have never been one to shy away from that. Trying to find the right balance between the big action stuff and the human moments is something that I am getting better at."
