The "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" Blu-ray will contain no Marvel One-Shot short.

Entertainment Weekly reports that sources close to Marvel Studios have confirmed there will be no Marvel One-Shot short film paired with the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" Blu-ray release. "The Winter Soldier" will be the first Marvel home video release without a One-Shot since they debuted in 2011, paired with the "Thor" Blu-ray. It's certainly a surprising move given how successful the short films have been -- "Agent Carter" was a Marvel One-Shot and is now headed to series at ABC. Clark Gregg showed more of his range as Agent Phil Coulson in "The Consultant" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer," which was likely part of the impetus to have him anchor "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Out of all the Marvel films released so far, only "Iron Man," "Iron Man 2" and "The Incredible Hulk" lack a Marvel One-Shot, and the short film series has been made all the more impressive by the level of talent the studio has managed to sign on for the shorts, which vary in length. Sir Ben Kingsley returned to his "Iron Man 3" role for "All Hail the King," (as did "Iron Man 2's" Sam Rockwell) dealing with Trevor Slattery's time in prison; while Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Bradford starred in "Item 47," following a couple that managed to pick up a Chitauri weapon after The Battle of New York.

There were no details about whether this is the actual end of the Marvel One-Shots, though it's probably unlikely. As EW notes, Marvel is rather busy at the moment -- what with the sudden departure of Edgar Wright from "Ant-Man"; the renewal of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and pickup of "Agent Carter" and the "Daredevil" Netflix series casting its leading role -- and executives have always stated that the One-Shots were designed to tell a story they might not have the opportunity to focus on in film. It's entirely possible that Marvel doesn't have a One-Shot level story in mind presently.
