According to Variety, "Sherlock" will indeed have a standalone episode that will begin filming in January 2015, and another three-episode fourth season that will begin production later in 2015.

"A special, plus a new series of three episodes -- it’s a record-breaking run!" showrunner Steven Moffat said in a statement. Veteran actor Bob Hastings passed away this week due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 89. While Hastings had many defining roles in his career -- including Lt. Elroy Carpenter on "McHale's Navy" -- comic fans will know him best as the iconic voice of Commissioner Gordon in "Batman: The Animated Series," a role he would go on to reprise for much of the DC Animated Universe material. He also voiced Superboy in the 1960s, as well as Clark Kent and Superboy in "The Superman/Batman Hour."
