EW.com reports that Wentworth Miller has been cast as Leonard Snart -- better known as Captain Cold -- in the upcoming "The Flash" television series. Miller will guest-star in the fourth episode of the series that -- according to executive producer Greg Berlanti -- will feature "his origin and the origin of the Rogues." Best known for his role as Michael Scofield in "Prison Break," Miller also has a DC Comics connection -- he voiced Slade Wilson/Deathstroke on an episode of "Young Justice" in 2013.
Captain Cold has seen a major resurgence in the DC Comics Universe since the events of "Forever Evil" elevated him as a hero, rather than a villain. Current comics depict him as joining up with the Justice League with fellow villain-turned-hero Lex Luthor. However, going by Berlanti's comments, it seems he'll be a villain -- at least to start -- in "The Flash." That said, he's not the only cold-based DC Comics character to find a place in the televisions series. Caitlin Snow, played by Danielle Panabaker, is better known in the comics as Killer Frost -- another character with freeze powers.
Miller's casting is the latest in a string of announcements for both "The Flash" and its sister show "Arrow," including Robbie Amell getting cast as Ronnie Raymond on "The Flash" and Brandon Routh taking on the role of Ray Palmer in "Arrow."
"The Flash" premieres October 7 on The CW.
