Ahead of the "Night of DC Entertainment" this evening at Comic-Con International, Fox has debuted a new "movie trailer" for "Gotham."

It is indeed cinematic, opening with a notice that the preview "has been approved for all lawful citizens of Gotham City" before moving on to the virtually iconic scene of the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne, complete with the shot of the broken pearl necklace hitting the pavement in slow motion.

As dark as the trailer is, with Oswald Cobblepot's warning of a "terrible war" and rivers of blood in the streets, it also finds room for a little humor at the end.

Premiering Sept. 22 on Fox, "Gotham" stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Camren Bicondova, Zabryna Guevara, David Mazouz, Erin Richards, Cory Michael Smith and Victoria Cartagena.
