According to Deadline, "The Wolverine" star Rila Fukushima has joined the cast of "Arrow," replacing previously announced actor Devon Aoki in the role of Katana. Aoki vacated the role due to a scheduling conflict.

Fukushima will play Tatsu Yamashiro on The CW series, a hero whose codename is taken from the weapon she wields. In the comics, Yamashiro's katana, Soultaker, does exactly what its name implies, absorbing the souls of the villains whose lives it takes.

Katana was created by writer Mike W. Barr and artist Jim Aparo, and first introduced in 1983's "The Brave and the Bold" #200. Frequently depicted as part of the Outsiders team, Katana was the titular star of a solo series that ran for ten issues in 2013, and was part of the "Justice League of America" cast.
