DOCTOR STRANGE

Reports have begun circulating that Joaquin Phoenix is in final negotiations to star in "Doctor Strange." Should negotiations conclude successfully, Phoenix is rumored to be playing the title role of Doctor Stephen Strange in the upcoming film, which has still not yet officially been announced by Marvel. However, director Scott Derrickson is already onboard, and the report from Collider stated that fans should "expect official confirmation from Marvel soon" about Phoenix.

AGENT CARTER

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" directors Joe and Anthony Russo spoke with Collider about the level of their involvement in the upcoming "Agent Carter" series, for which they will direct two episodes.

"[We’re] mostly on the outside," Anthony Russo said. "We definitely have had some conversations with [screenwriters] Markus and McFeely and Louis D’Esposito, but we haven’t been spending time in the writers room."

"There’s been a little bit of just general conversations about our experience in television and potential pitfalls, things to look out for," said Joe Russo. "Creatively, Markus and McFeely are heavily involved, D’Esposito is heavily involved. We’ll get a script two weeks before we shoot and then we’ll give our input."

Airs this Fall on ABC

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel's other television series, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," got an updated billboard, revealed via Clark Gregg's Facebook page. The billboard recreates the final scene of the first season, with Coulson writing out a detailed plan -- presumably alien in origin.

Comic Book Movie has posted a scan of a photo in "Entertainment Weekly" magazine that gives a first look at Gregg as the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The text with the photo also indicates that their new headquarters will be a "reconverted SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) bunker from WWII."

"Of course, Fury has tricked it out with a few updates and a handful of cool toys," said executive producer Jeffrey Bell.

Returns to ABC September 23.

ARROW

New "Arrow" casting news: Nolan Funk has joined the cast of "Arrow" as the hacker ex-boyfriend of Felicity Smoak from her time at MIT. The character, named Cooper Seldon, will appear in the fifth episode of the season, entitled "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak." It's currently unclear as to whether he'll appear in flashbacks or in present day, or if he's signed on for more than a single episode.

Returns October 8 on The CW

THE FLASH

Grant Gustin and Candice Patton took on some behind-the-scenes questions for a few CW videos on YouTube. There's not really any real behind the scenes info, but it's a few fun promotional videos.

Debuts October 7 on The CW

THE WALKING DEAD

EW.com has posted first looks at season five character photos from "The Walking Dead," including Daryl and Rick.

Returns this Fall on AMC

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Here's a fun tidbit -- Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., heaped quite a bit of praise on "Guardians of the Galaxy" during an interview with the Toronto Sun, according to Variety.

"'Galaxy' in some ways is the best Marvel movie ever," the actor told the newspaper. "And it's odd for someone with -- on occasion -- an ego the size of mine to actually say that!"

Audiences apparently agree with the actor, if box office numbers are anything to go by. The film is already the biggest movie of the summer, recently passing "Transformers: Age of Extinction," and is on track to become the top grossing film of the year.

Now in theaters

THE SCRIBBLER

To lead in the weekend, the first red-band trailer for "The Scribbler" adaptation has found its way online. The adaptation of the Image Comics series of the same name stars "Arrow's" Katie Cassidy, "Buffy" alums Eliza Dushku and Michelle Trachtenberge, Michael Imperioli and Sasha Grey.

This red-band trailer contains adult content, so watch with caution.

Available October 1 on video on demand
