AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Comic Book Movie has posted the official synopsis of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" second season. While it mostly recaps the events of the first season, there are certainly one or two reveals about what's to come in season two.

After helping to thwart Hydra, Coulson was appointed as Director and tasked with rebuilding the agency. This won't be an easy job to accomplish with the majority of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents either killed, secretly working for Hydra or free agents. Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot, martial artist and longtime friend, will continue to look after Coulson in the wake of the mysterious etchings he's been carving into walls. What do these etchings mean, and can Coulson be trusted? Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, was found to be a Hydra mole and a traitor to S.H.I.E.L.D. and locked up away from the world and his former teammates. But this isn't the last we've seen of him... After being left to die in the middle of the ocean by Ward, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer, and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist, found a way to escape their watery grave. But all did not go well for Fitz, who was left in a coma and may never regain his full cognitive functions; a devastating blow to Simmons. And computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet), now a full-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, discovered her origins as a 0-8-4 -- an object of unknown origin - and that her parents were considered "monsters." Could Skye have darkness lying dormant inside of her? Also joining Coulson's core team is Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), a dashing mercenary sharp shooter with a quick wit. Since he didn't rise up through the ranks, does he have an ulterior motive for helping out the team?

Most fans assumed Agent Antoine Triplett -- played by B.J. Britt -- would be back for season two, but he's nowhere to be found in the synopsis. Then again, it's entirely possible Britt will be a guest star on the series, much like Adrianne Palicki and Lucy Lawless.

[UPDATE 9/3/2014 9:06 AM PT: Britt will likely be involved in the season in some capacity -- Ming-Na Wen has posted a photo to Twitter of her, Britt and newcomer Nick Blood working out together with the hashtag #RebuildSHIELD. Thanks to Dwight on Facebook for the tip!

TV Line has posted a new photo of Chloe Bennett as Skye sporting a new hairstyle and a massive rifle.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2

Collider covered James and Sean Gunn's panel at DragonCon 2014, where the director addressed the rumors that Carol Danvers would show up in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," saying he preferred to steer clear of any Earth heroes in his corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he also hopes to introduce more female characters into the world of "Guardians" as soon as possible.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Robert Downey Jr. spoke with USA Today in advance of the Toronto Film Festival about the possibility of a Black Widow solo film -- and the "Iron Man" leading actor was actually very diplomatic.

"I think that the interesting thing particularly after 'Guardians' with Zoe (Saldana), (or) even from the first 'Iron Man' where Pepper was kind of this really -- to me the Iron Man franchise would never have taken off without (Gwyneth) Paltrow," Downey Jr. said. "There's something about her that grounded the story. She's not your typical lady in a superhero movie, and then by 'Iron Man 3' she's swallowing serums and putting on suits and kicking (butt) and all that stuff. [But], it would be kind of more appropriate for a character that already was like a Black Widow (to lead a movie). It just seems like whatever Scarlett does people want to go see it.

"The funny thing is honestly at this point everyone deserves a franchise," he continued. "I think Jeremy Renner is -- when folks see the 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' he's just a rockstar, a bada–. And [Mark] Ruffalo is pumped. He does great (work). I'd like to hear them talk even more seriously about a Hulk franchise, because that's been one of the toughest ones to get right. But I'm sure that my parent company is feeling expansive and and bold after the summer they've had."

Opens May 1, 2015

GOTHAM

Deadline notes that for season one, the date is expected to be around September 2015, though it's currently just conjecture.
