After a new synopsis for Fox's "Fantastic Four" reboot popped up on Rotten Tomatoes, IGN reached out to the movie studio to confirm the block of text's veracity. Fox has confirmed that the following synopsis is accurate and official.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. (C) Fox

Instead of receiving their superpowers from radiation in outer space, this new foursome will instead get their powers from traveling to an alternate universe. This origin bears a strong resemblance to the one used by writers Mark Millar and Brian Michael Bendis to kick off the "Ultimate Fantastic Four" series in 2004. In the source material, the alternate universe is the Negative Zone, home to the tyrannical villain Annihilus.

This official plot summary comes a few weeks after the leak of a much more detailed -- and since denied by screenwriterJeremy Slater -- synopsis of the film. The official synopsis does not conflict with the debunked one; both include a teleportation-based origin story for the heroes.

"Fantastic Four" is directed by Josh Trank and stars Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell. It opens in theaters on August 7, 2015.
