Following the news that the armored X-Man Colossus would have a part to play in 2016's "Deadpool" feature film, actor Daniel Cudmore has revealed via his Twitter page that his days as Colossus have come to an end.
Colossus' inclusion in "Deadpool" was first mentioned by the Hollywood Reporter in an article touting Gina Carano's addition to the cast as a character called Angel Dust. With Cudmore out as Piotr Rasputin, the hunt is surely on for another actor to play the mountainous mutant.
Cudmore made his film debut in 2003's "X2" where he portrayed Colossus in a cameo role. The character was given slightly more exposure in 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand" and he played a part in last year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Despite being a mainstay of the X-Men comics since his first appearance nearly forty years ago, Colossus' participation on the big screen mostly hovered in the cameo range. Cudmore spent his years away from the X-franchise starring in another series of films; he played the Volturi Felix in four "Twilight Saga" films.
Colossus isn't the only super strong character slated to appear in "Deadpool." Recently revealed casting descriptions list a number of big and muscular characters, one of which could be Colossus. "Deadpool" opens on February 12, 2016.
