Set in a fictional city in Southern California, "Rumble in La Rambla" tells a different tale than you might be expecting from a traditional comic. Here you don't see your classic stoic hero ready to give up his life for the greater good, instead you see evil men full of hatred and revenge in their hearts. The storyline examines how vendetta can be a vicious circle, showing its players entrapped

Writer Felipe Ferreira and artist Rafael Albuquerque are new to the American comics scene, but not to the trend itself. The sensational art duo hail from Brazil and have been working with middle east comics for a couple of years, but "Rumble in La Ramble" marks their American debut. The story in "Rumble in La Ramble" is filled with flashbacks and interludes, with a pulp-esque style. Regarding the artwork, the creative team of Ferreira and Albuquerque felt the flat, B&W noir aesthetics wouldn't work so well in sunny California. From this conflict arose an interesting art style they've dubbed "Tropical Noir," which offers a unique approach to an old theme: Revenge.

Now, you heard the buzz, but can "Rumble in La Rambla" live up to it? Well, now you can see for yourself. CBR News has an exclusive look at the prologue to the series called "A Big Fish in a Big Pond."
