New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has been tapped to pen the foreword to the upcoming Marvel Comics tribute book "A Moment of Silence" according to today's New York Post.

Following the attack on New York City's World Trade Center September 11th most will agree that Giuliani conducted himself with incredible poise and calm in the aftermath, and his actions defined those of a real life hero. In the article Marvel Comics EIC Joe Quesada called the Mayor "a pillar of strength" for the city.

"I think we now realize that we do not have to read fiction to find examples of heroism," Giuliani wrote in "A Moment of Silence," scheduled to hit stores January 9th, 2002. "The real heroes in American life have been with us all along. Our firefighters, police officers and other rescue workers put their lives on the line every day to protect the rest of us from the danger."

"A Moment of Silence" contains four stories with contributions from Brian Bendis, Scott Morse, Kevin Smith, John Romita Jr., Bill Jemas, Mark Bagley, Joe Quesada and Igor Kordey with a cover by Alex Ross. All proceeds from the sale of this book will benefit the NYC Twin Towers Fund.
