DC COMICS TO OVERPRINT 52: WEEK 1 - GROUNDBREAKING DEBUT ISSUE TO REMAIN AVAILABLE FOR REORDERS
With the first issue of DC Comics' extraordinary weekly series 52 set to arrive in stores on May 10, DC announces that this groundbreaking issue will get a significant overprint, enabling retailers to reorder it for weeks to come.
"We want to be sure that absolutely every fan, from the devoted to the merely curious, can find a copy of 52 WEEK 1," says Stephanie Fierman, Senior VP - Sales & Marketing. "With returnability and an overprint of nearly 30 percent above orders we may have one or two left over, but if that happens, we'll consider the decision a big success because it'll mean that no one was left out in the cold."
"This issue is where the DCU after INFINITE CRISIS gets started," says Dan DiDio, Senior VP - Executive Editor, DCU. "It's a vital jumping-on point, and it's great that stores will be able to keep ordering this debut issue as more issues go on sale, so new readers can catch up on all the excitement."
As a reminder, sold out issues of 52 will not get second printings, and no collected editions of the series will appear before 52 reaches its conclusion next spring.
52 WEEK 1 (MAR060309) is written by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka and Mark Waid, with breakdowns by Keith Giffen, art by Joe Bennett and Ruy Jose and a cover by J.G. Jones. It is available for advance reorder, and is scheduled to arrive in stores on May 10 with a cover price of $2.50 U.S.
Following quick sellouts at DC Comics, two issues of the hot new DCU series CHECKMATE and BLUE BEETLE are going back to press for new printings!
CHECKMATE #1 Second Printing (MAR068157) will feature a black and white version of the original cover art by Lee Bermejo, and is scheduled to arrive in stores on May 24.
To ensure delivery on May 24 retailers must place orders by Sunday, May 14; please note that quantities will be limited and may sell out before May 14.
BLUE BEETLE #2 Second Printing (MAR068171) will feature a preliminary version of the original cover art by Cully Hamner, and is scheduled to arrive in stores on May 31.
To ensure delivery on May 31 retailers must place orders by Sunday, May 21; please note that quantities will be limited and may sell out before May 21.
