Five New Artists Set For Supercon

Ft. Lauderdale, FL. - Florida Supercon has added five new artists to the ever growing line-up including "GOLDEN AGE LEGEND" Allen Bellman, Ted Mckeever, Alex Saviuk, Rob Cabrera & Carlos Castellanos.

  • Allen Bellman: Allen is known for his work in the 1940's and 1950's as an artist for both Timely and Atlas. His credits include THE PATRIOT. THE HUMAN TORCH. THE DESTROYER, CAPTAIN AMERICA, JAP BUSTER JOHNSON, LET'S PLAY DETECTIVE, JET DIXON OF THE SPACE SQUADRON & SCORES OF PRE-CODE HORROR, CRIME, WAR & WESTERN TALES! Allen will be making a very rare convention appearance at Supercon!


  • Ted Mckeever: Ted is a Comic Book Artist/Creator known for his work on METROPOL, EDDY CURRENT, PLASTIC FORKS, SUPERMAN'S METROPOLIS, THE EXTREMIST, INDUSTRIAL GOTHIC   & currently IDW's ZOMBIE..

  • Alex Saviuk: Alex Saviuk started his career in 1977 at DC Comics drawing such books as GREEN LANTERN, THE FLASH, SUPERMAN and DC COMICS PRESENTS . In 1986, he moved on to Marvel where he established himself as a true arachnophile with his 7-year run on WEB OF SPIDER-MAN (#35-116), as well as working on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, SPIDER-MAN ADVENTURES and THE ADVENTURES OF SPIDER-MAN. Alex is also known for his work on THE X-FILES, and is the current artist on THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Sunday newspaper comic strip (since 1997). Besides comics, Alex does storyboards for advertising agencies, film and animation studios. He recently did storyboards for THE REAPING , a supernatural thriller starring Hilary Swank opening a week after Supercon!

  • Rob Cabrera: Nationally syndicated comic strip creator of SILO ROBERTS. Rob introduced his creation in 2004, which is read daily by millions of readers. SILO ROBERTS is the story of a multi-ethnic middle child who struggles to find his place in today's melting pot of a world. Honest, funny and realistic, Silo Roberts explores the twin challenges of a kid's struggle to find himself and the next level of his favorite video game. Challenged by a standardized test to identify his race, Silo discovers that his own particular multi-ethnic background is not one of the multiple choices listed. In a nation where nearly 7 million people classify themselves as belonging to more than one race and more than 25% of Americans are non-white, Silo Roberts is a typical kid of the 21st century.

  • Carlos Castellanos: Nationally syndicated comic strip co-creator of BALDO. The BALDO strip was launched nationwide by Universal Press Syndicate in 2000, and was the company's first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Very simply, Baldo is a daydreaming teenager who's trying to be the coolest kid in school. In the meantime, he'll settle for a good game of soccer and building the sweetest lowrider car. That's the short answer. But Baldo is much more than that.

    Florida Supercon is a multi-format convention for comic book, anime & sci-fi/fantasy fans taking place November 3, 4 & 5 in Ft. Lauderdale. FL. The show will include celebrity guests, writers, artists and filmmakers.

    The three day show, starting Friday night and ending Sunday, will be a traditional convention including vendors, guests, Q&A's, film festival, parties, costume contest, giveaways, anime programming, celebrity banquet, workshops, panels and more.

    The Florida Supercon Independent Film Festival , showcasing independent genre films (short and full length), as well as the latest and best fan films will be hosted by Terry Cronin (Students of the Unusual).     The convention will be held at The Hollywood Beach Resort (Ramada), located at 101 North Ocean Drive (Hollywood Blvd & Ocean Drive), Hollywood, FL . Special room rates for convention attendees is $99 per night (single) and $109 (double). Upgrades are available for an ocean view.
