Official Press Release

Dark Horse Comics, DC Comics, Image Comics, and Marvel Comics have unveiled the covers to their giveaway comics developed for Free Comic Book Day (Saturday, May 4). At the same time, Diamond Comic Distributors has released the initial list of publishers who will also be contributing to the effort with free comics.

Free books will include Dark Horse's special, all-original Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones story, DC's Justice League Adventures #1, a Tomb Raider #1/2 story from Image and Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man #1, among others. The covers to the books are available on the event's website: www.FreeComicBookDay.com.

Many other publishers are also participating in this huge promotion. Abstract Studios, Antarctic Press, Bongo Comics, Chaos! Comics, CPM, Cyberosia Publishing, Fantagraphics, Humanoids Publishing, Oni Press, Tokyopop, Top Shelf Productions, Viz Communications, and other suppliers are developing custom books/reprints for the promotion, making overstock titles available for free or at low cost to participating retailers, and/or promoting the event in print and/or online.

Retailers can order these titles from Diamond Comic Distributors' February Previews Order Form, then distribute them free to customers who visit their stores on May 4 - one day after Sony Pictures' live-action film Spider-Man opens in theaters, meaning that consumer awareness of comics is expected to be high.

Plus, Diamond's February Previews catalog will keep building the buzz with a two-page spread geared towards consumers that will show the covers and encourage regular customers to bring a friend to their comics store for Free Comic Book Day!
