Penny-Farthing Press Recognized At Houston Awards Show

Houston, TX - Penny-Farthing Press (PFP) recently received recognition in the 51 st Annual Art Directors Club of Houston Award Show on November 11, 2006.   The event, showcasing Texas talent, awarded four medals to Penny-Farthing Press.   PFP won the Bronze Medal in Book/Cover Design for Captain Gravity and the Power of the Vril and swept the Illustration category:   Gold Medal for Captain Gravity and the Power of the Vril , Silver Medal for Stuart Moore's PARA , and the Bronze Medal for Decoy: Menagerie Part 2.  

Charles Hancock, PFP's Art Director states, "It's great to see our books place in this competition, but to win Gold for the second consecutive year really proves that people are taking notice of our attention to detail and quality.   Our goal is to set the standard for other comic publishers."

The Art Directors Club of Houston, founded in 1955, is a statewide, non-profit organization of art directors, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, art educators and other creative professionals whose talent and services contribute to excellence in the design and production of advertising, promotion and publishing.   The ADCH provides an opportunity for stimulating creativity, discovering new talents, sources, techniques and a forum for the promotion and advancement of the professional designer and artist.

This year's award show took place at legendary Houston concert venue Warehouse Live. The event included a Gallery viewing and a special performance from KISS tribute band Destroyer.   Hancock was on hand to accept the awards.   Also recognized for contribution to PFP's award winning efforts were Creative Director Trainor Houghton, writers Joshua Dysart and Stuart Moore, pencillers Sal Velluto, Pablo Villalobos, Claude St. Aubin and Frederico Zumel, colorist Mike Garcia and the various artists that contributed to Decoy: Menagerie Part 2.
