According to the Hollywood Reporter actor Sean Connery has been confirmed as the headliner for the feature-film version of "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," based on the comic by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neil. It is believed Connery will play the role of Alan Quartermain. Sequel commitments are apparently a part of Connery's contract. Rob Worley first reported Connery's likely involvement with the movie in his Comics2Film column here at CBR.
The film will be directed by Steve Norrington for 20th Century Fox whose work should be familiar to comic fans as the director of the "Blade" feature film and is written by comics scribe James Robinson. Shooting is scheduled to start this summer with a reported budget in the $80 million range.
