New York: In a room packed with illustration notables, three giants of the sequential and fantasy art fields were officially inducted into the Society of Illustrators. All on the same night, Neal Adams, Michael Golden and Basil Gogos took the august stage to accept their honors.
All three stalwarts are also connected as they are the subjects of books from leading illustration and cartooning publishers, Vanguard Productions, making February 1, 2007 truly a Vanguard night. Past president of the Dallas Society of Illustrators and Vanguard publisher, J. David Spurlock said, "Artistic community is culturally very important, it is an honor to be associated with these fine talents."

Now, with the 106th anniversary of SI falling on the very night that Adams, Golden and Gogos join the ranks, SI continues to utilize exhibitions, public works and scholarship funds to promote fine illustration art.
As Mark Twain said at that first SI dinner some time ago, "Illusions are the only things that are†valuable to us. God help the man who reaches the stage where he only faces reality."
