Variety reported yesterday the news that hugely renowned comics author Grant Morrison has been hired to adapt for feature film the Midway Games franchise "Area 51." In the story, a hazardous materials specialist is assigned to investigate a possibly extra-terrestrial viral outbreak at one of the US's most top-secret military facilities.

Morrison is of course known to comics readers as the creator of "The Invisibles," "We3," and "The Filth," as well as the author of definitive runs on corporate titles including "Doom Patrol" and "Animal Man." His own screenplay for "We3" is currently in development at New Line Cinema.
