Hawthorne High School Comic Convention Announces Line Up and Events for 2007!

Saturday May 12th, 2007 the greatest high school comic book convention

in America will celebrate it's fourth year. Returning will be all the

features that have made the show a special addition to the comic

convention season.

The Hawthorne High School Cartooning Club and The Hawthorne High School

Art Club are the organizers. The faculty advisors are the schools art

teachers Allan Rosenberg and Danielle Russo. The many students of the

two clubs are the heart and soul of the show as they run the show the

entire day, organizing every aspect of each event. The students will

have their cartoon and painted art displayed at the show in a special


The convention is part of the Art Department's month long celebration

of the Arts which includes the convention, fieldtrips to art museums, a

day long student art show and visits by professional artists. We have

already had a visit by artist Ian Dorian who taught drawing and

sculpting anatomy. Future visiting artists will include painter Dave

DeVries (his 4th visit) and Gene Colan who will teach drawing and speak

about his legendary career.

The convention is organized to be a fundraiser for the art department

and includes an auction featuring original art, signed books and other

comic collectables donated by our guests and others from the comic

industry. This has become one of our most anticipated events each year

with lots folks winning wonderful comic art treasures. The auction will

be happening at 2:30pm.

editors, painters and colorists in the industry.

Once again the Hawthorne Convention will have an incredible line up of

art lessons available to the public. Among the lessons planned:

Anatomy taught by Ian Dorian

Painting taught by Mark Romanowski

How to creator a comic book "A – Z" taught by DannyFingeroth and Jim


Additionally many of our guests will be available at their tables for

portfolio reviews, so budding young artists bring your work.

The Hawthorne Convention is the friendliest and exciting convention

around. You will have access to comic creators unheard of at other

shows, with short lines and extremely friendly creators. If a creator

is at the Hawthorne convention you can be sure they love comics and

they love meeting their fans!

Admission is still only $3!

If you're driving MAPQUEST is great for directions. You can get to

convention from NYC by taking NJ Transit from Penn Station, just a 30

minute ride from midtown.

Wonderful food is available within walking distance in Hawthorne and

with so much going on plan to stay for the day.
