Official Press Release

Los Angeles, C.A. - July 25th 2002 - Comic Book Resources (http://www.comicbookresources.com), a leading comic book news and resource Web site, is proud to announce the addition of Mark Millar's THE COLUMN to the weekly line-up at CBR.

Mark Millar, the writer of the wildly popular titles "The Ultimates" and "Ultimate X-Men" from Marvel Comics, will be sharing his thoughts and opinions on a weekly basis at CBR. Titled simply "The Column," it's Millar's opportunity to have his opinion heard by a large and varied audience.

"THE COLUMN is just a chance for me to write something and see it reach people on the same day it reaches my frontal lobes," said Millar. "I wrote a newspaper opinion column last year and my wife really misses the opportunity that gave me to rant at the computer as opposed to ranting at her and passers-by. Hopefully, THE COLUMN will also serve this purpose."

Millar's aware that there are a number of comics professionals writing weekly columns online, but his place in the industry and outlook on what's happening will clearly separate his from the rest.

"I'm going to try to make this as adaptable as possible in the sense that some weeks it isn't even going to be a column," said Millar. "There might be a gossip week, I might reprint a series of e-mails I have with someone, I might do an interview with someone I admire. Basically, it's just going to be a blank canvas for fifty two weeks where I can get my opinions out there. I'm an opinionated bugger when it comes to comics (and everything else) so that shouldn't prove too difficult."

For CBR's Executive Producer Jonah Weiland, this is a moment he's been waiting quite some time for.

"I've been after Mark for over two years now to write a weekly column at CBR," said Weiland. "I've admired his work for a good long time and I am elated that he'll be joining the staff at CBR. Millar's voice added to the site makes an already strong line-up of columns stronger. I've seen the first column and fans of is work will not be disappointed!"

THE COLUMN will be published every Friday starting July 26th, 2002 at Comic Book Resources.
