Before they put on costumes, they were already heroes…

DC: THE NEW FRONTIER

Acclaimed writer/artist Darwyn Cooke (SELINA'S BIG SCORE, BATMAN: EGO) turns his attention to the dawn of the Silver Age in DC: THE NEW FRONTIER, a sprawling 6-issue miniseries that takes readers on a journey from the end of the Golden Age to the genesis of a bold new era for the super-hero in the late 1950s!

World War II is over. The Cold War has begun. And the Age of the Super-hero is in decline. But where are the heroes of tomorrow?

THE NEW FRONTIER recounts the dawning of the DCU's Silver Age from the perspective of those brave individuals who made it happen. Encounter "keepers of the flame" including Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, who survived the anti-hero sentiment of the Cold War, as well as eager newcomers like test-pilot Hal Jordan and scientist Barry Allen, poised to become the next generation of crimefighters. And discover the tragic sacrifices of noble warriors such as The Losers and The Suicide Squad who bridged the gap between the two eras at a terrible personal price.

Cooke, a master storyteller, writes and illustrates this landmark tale, a must-have not only for fans of the DC Universe, but for all lovers of powerful tales of heroism!

This project is supported with a 17" x 34" full-color poster, a 5" x 34" full-color poster strip, a minisite at www.dccomics.com; a preview in Wizard magazine, and house and trade ads.

DC: THE NEW FRONTIER is a miniseries featuring six 64-page spectaculars edited by Mark Chiarello. Issue #1 arrives in comic-book stores January 21 with a cover price of $6.95 U.S.

LOVECRAFT HARDCOVER

"In reading Lovecraft's literary legacy, one can't help but wonder, 'What if…?' Well, contained within the terse lines and imaginative writing of this book lies the answer to that question. Get ready for a fun, scary ride." - Guillermo del Toro, director (Blade II)

The Necronomicon. Cthulu. A town called Arkham populated by bizarre and insane monstrosities. These icons of horror were envisioned by one man: Howard Philips Lovecraft. But were these visions of horror only in his mind, or could he see into a world that couldn't be seen?

His story is told in February's LOVECRAFT, an original VERTIGO hardcover graphic novel penned by screenwriter Hans Rodionoff (Clive Barker Presents Saint Sinner), adapted by comics legend Keith Giffen, and exquisitely painted by acclaimed Argentinian artist Enriqu Breccia (BATMAN: BLACK AND WHITE).

From his bizarre childhood, when his mother would dress him as a girl, to his adult days, when he would meet Harry Houdini, Lovecraft was haunted by grotesque visions. He dedicated his life to writing blood-boiling "fictional" tales, all in an attempt to appease his living nightmares. But that obsession would take its toll. His parents both sent to asylums and his loving wife driven away, Lovecraft would spend most of his life as a recluse, his only company being his demons and the occasional visit to his publisher. Some called him insane. Some called him a genius. Either way, the story of America's greatest horror writer is a tale as haunting as the demons that plagued him.

This project is supported with a minisite at www.vertigocomics.com and trade and house ads.

LOVECRAFT is a 144-page VERTIGO original hardcover graphic novel edited by Karen Berger and is suggested for mature readers. It is advance-solicited and arrives in comic-book stores February 4 with a cover price of $24.95 U.S.

MY FAITH IN FRANKIE

Frankie Moxon seems like your typical teenage girl. She's pretty, popular, and smart. But she just has one little problem…her god is ruining her sex life.

MY FAITH IN FRANKIE is a 4-issue VERTIGO miniseries written by Mike Carey (LUCIFER, HELLBLAZER) with beautiful, Manga-inspired art by newcomer Sonny Liew (Malinky Robot) & Marc Hempel (SANDMAN: THE KINDLY ONES, GREGORY) and covers by Hempel.

Since she was a baby, Frankie has been protected and aided by Jeriven, her own adoring personal god. Growing up with your own deity makes for some sweet advantages - perfect test scores, endless ice cream parties, and a knack for a mean game of marbles. But as Frankie hits adolescence, Jeriven isn't too eager to give up his only worshipper. So when a childhood friend comes back into Frankie's life - and he's cuter than Brad Pitt - Frankie ditches Jeriven for the joys of adulthood. But there's something not quite right about her new boyfriend Dean, and it might have something to do with the fact that he just came back from the dead.

Jeriven won't take losing his sole supporter lying down, so he turns to Frankie's best friend Kay for help. Only someone's out to settle a very, very old score, and as the stakes escalate, this divine threesome must battle some seriously un-heavenly foes.

This project is supported with trade and house ads.

WONDER WOMAN #200

Wonder Woman has faced some enormous challenges since writer Greg Rucka and artists Drew Johnson & Ray Snyder came on board with August's acclaimed issue #195. But her biggest battle yet comes in WONDER WOMAN #200, a 64-page anniversary issue highlighted by the conclusion to the team's first story arc, "Down to Earth" and the debut of new regular cover artist J.G. Jones (WONDER WOMAN: THE HIKETEIA).

As Veronica Cale unleashes an amped-up version of an already deadly villains on Wonder Woman and her friends, the machinations of Ares on Olympus cause the gods to take a very different approach to all the Amazons of Themyscira…a change that will affect Diana's people for years to come!

But the conclusion to "Down to Earth" is just part of this celebration of the most famous female character in comics! Award-winning artist Eric Shanower (Age of Bronze) provides spot illustrations for excerpts (written by Rucka) from Wonder Woman's own book, Reflections; and renowned Castle Waiting artist Linda Medley illustrates a story starring Wonder Girl that retells an ancient myth, setting the stage for the next continuing WONDER WOMAN storyline. Plus, other stories evoke the spirit of Wonder Woman's earlier incarnations, including "The Exile of Wonder Woman!," a Golden Age-style story from writer Robert Rodi (Elektra, CODENAME: KNOCKOUT) with H.G. Peter-style art by Rick Burchett (GREEN LANTERN). Plus, the Silver Age exploits of our favorite Amazon are lovingly re-created by writers Nunzio DeFillipis & Christina Weir (New Mutants) and artist Ty Templeton (BATMAN ADVENTURES) when Wonder Woman must rescue Steve Trevor from "Amazon Women on the Moon!"

Rounding out this Wonder-full celebration are pinups from Eduardo Risso, Steve Rude, Stuart Immonen, Brian Stelfreeze, and Walter Simonson, making this a celebration to remember!

This project is supported with trade and house ads.

A new chapter in the life of Yorick Brown begins in Y: THE LAST MAN #18, the first part of the 3-issue story arc "Safeword," featuring the debut of new cover artist Aron Weisenfeld.

Written by Brian K. Vaughan with art by Pia Guerra and Jos Marzan, Jr., Y: THE LAST MAN #18 finds Yorick and company on their way to Colorado in search of medical attention for his pet monkey, Ampersand. But will this alluring, mysterious woman prove to be Y's most valuable ally…or his greatest enemy?

Y: THE LAST MAN is an ongoing series edited by Will Dennis and is suggested for mature readers. The 32-page issue #18 is scheduled to arrive in comic-book stores on January 7 with a cover price of $2.95 U.S.
