My appreciation of the four-color world of comics started one Saturday morning when my mom returned from a grocery store trip with a coverless issue of some Spider-Man adventure. This was just the right time to hit me with a comic as "Super Friends" had just ended and the television was turned off for the morning. I'm not sure what the Spider-Man issue was, as I was too naive to check the indicia and the issue has since disappeared in one of my many moves, but Spider-Man made an impression on me and comics made an impression on my wallet. Comics have been a mainstay of my public display of support of capitalism ever since.

Writing for CBR isn't my first journalistic gig within the world of comics. I've also written for Comicbloc.com (which started off as GeoffJohns.com) where my first ever interview was with George Perez! I've also written and designed the "Hawkman Companion" for TwoMorrows and have some other ideas for other writing projects at some point in the future. Some of those ideas might involve gorillas, or they might not. Most of those ideas certainly don't involve platypi. Thanks, Perry.

At my day job, I'm an Instructional Designer, developing training materials and curriculum for those who need them, even if they don't realize they do. I have a ridiculously supportive, amazingly talented and beautiful wife and I am lucky enough to be the father of three incredibly talented and awesomely amazing young ladies who each appreciate comics in their own way. In my spare time, when I'm not being a dad, coaching soccer, mowing the lawn (or shoveling the snow), reading and reviewing comics, driving to or from work and actually doing work, I sleep.

FIRST COMIC: An unspecificed coverless Spider-Man issue, but I have reason to believe it to be "Marvel Team-Up" #58. The first one I spent my hard-earned, fifty-cent allowance on was "Justice League of America" #192.

FAVORITE CHARACTER: Firestorm, Hawkman, Benjamin J. Grimm, Cliff Steele

You have to admire DC's savvy marketing this week by putting Green Lanterns and a bright green background on the cover of "Wonder Woman" #42.

The Terminator: 2029 #1

Wed, March 31st, 2010 | Category: Review

The Terminator franchise returns to comics with a story set before it all began. This story focuses on Kyle Reese, the resistance fighter who comes back in time to find Sarah Connor.

Dark Wolverine #84

Wed, March 31st, 2010 | Category: Review

"Dark Wolverine" continues to be embroiled in "Siege," but this issue doesn't do much more than that.

Blackest Night #8

Wed, March 31st, 2010 | Category: Review

: "Blackest Night" draws to a close with "Brightest Day" looming on the horizon, but is it worthwhile? I say most definitely. And thank you.

Secret Warriors #14

Wed, March 24th, 2010 | Category: Review

In the words of one of the main characters, ". . . we're wasting our time and trying to change a world that doesn't want to be changed." I disagree. This isn't a waste of time, this is a good read.

Thor #608

Wed, March 24th, 2010 | Category: Review

The Siege of Asgard continues to rage on as this tale adds threads to the fabric woven in "Siege" proper.

Thunderbolts #142

Wed, March 24th, 2010 | Category: Review

The Thunderbolts -- Norman Osborn's Thunderbolts -- are on a quest in the realm of Asgard. This quest, of course, leads to trouble.

Green Lantern #52

Wed, March 24th, 2010 | Category: Review

This issue is being billed as the penultimate chapter to "Blackest Night." I kinda thought that designation was fulfilled with "Blackest Night" #7, but I guess not. Semantics.

X-23 #1

Mon, March 22nd, 2010 | Category: Review

X-23 is treated to a reunion with her co-stars from "NYX" and they meet one of her new co-stars. It's not as compelling as it sounds here.

A-Team: War Stories: Hannibal #1

Sat, March 20th, 2010 | Category: Review

While I love it when a plan comes together, this comic could have used a bit more of a plan.

JMS continues to play in the DC Universe sandbox. Here he dusts off some fan favorites for a really unusual team-up.

Doomwar #2

Wed, March 17th, 2010 | Category: Review

"Doomwar" is nowhere near as entertaining as "Siege," but then again, it doesn't set out to be. This is a story that plays from the shadows and foxholes of war.
