I've been reading comics on a regular basis since "The Death of Superman" storyline captured my imagination in 1992 at the age of 9. My parents fully supported my oncoming comic book addiction by driving me to the comic shop every week on Wednesdays, schedules permitting. At around that same time, I realized I wanted to be involved in the comics world in one way or another.
I went to college at Ohio Wesleyan University where I met my future wife, got a degree in creative writing and literature and also scored an internship at Wizard. After graduating the next year, I stayed around my hometown of Toledo, Ohio until a spot opened up at Wizard. I interviewed for the job in the research department and wound up getting it. I was at Wizard for about four years where I learned a lot about the magazine business and eventually worked my way up to Associate Editor of ToyFare. Moving to New York has lead to me living in a bunch of towns no one's ever heard of like Nyack, Stony Point and New Windsor.
Since 2009 I've been freelancing full time which has been both nerve wracking and a lot of fun. I've written for Maxim.com, UGO.com, Marvel.com and a number of others, with CBR being the most recent. My main gig is covering the wild and diverse world of comics coming out from Image along with a few other topics here and there.
FIRST COMIC: A stack from a neighbor that included the first four issues of "Captain Carrot & The Zoo Crew," "Fantastic Four" #335 and "New Teen Titans" #19 among others.
FAVORITE CHARACTER: Superman, Creeper, Batman, Captain America, pretty much anyone who's interesting.
