The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA) at The Society of Illustrators is proud to announce the second in the fall series of classes and events presented in conjunction with comics writer, editor, and instructor Danny Fingeroth, whose programs at MoCCA set the standard for comics education.
The next fall comics program is Penciling for Comics, Intermediate Level, with instructor Jamal Igle.
You’ve learned the basics of comics penciling: telling a story in narrative pictures, drawing a person who looks the same from one panel to the next, drawing a horse that looks something like a horse, knowing enough about perspective to fake it. Now, award-winning comics artist and inspiring instructor JAMAL IGLE will show you how to take your sequential art skills to the next level, improving your technical abilities so that you can express your own personality through your art, and also satisfy the needs of a client (even when the “client” is yourself). The course will combine lectures and demonstrations, exercises in class, at-home assignments, and critiques from the instructor.
• Students should come to class with: a sketchbook of their choice;
sheets of 11x 17 Strathmore, canson, or blue line pro bristol board;
tracing paper; a small notebook; and pencils and erasers of their choice.
• Class members should bring samples of their work to the first session
so the instructor can assess each student's skill level.
• There will also be suggested reading assigned, so please plan your time
