Kirby Krackle, Seattle's hottest nerd rock band, plays at the Portland Things From Another World 7/15 with openers H2Awesome as part of their "Sounds Like You" 2013 West Coast Tour! Come to the Portland TFAW at 2916 NE Broadway: the cover is $7, doors open at 7:30, and the show is from 8:00-10:00 p.m.
Kirby Krackle is headed by Kyle Stevens, who has been reading comics and writing and recording music since the age of 13, and Jim Demonakos, founder of Seattle's Emerald City Comicon as well as The Comic Stop chain of retail stores. Known for high-energy shows and songs referencing pop-culture icons, comic book characters, and video games, Kirby Krackle's name has become synonymous with melding nerd themes with superior musicianship.
"One of the key advantages of moving the Portland TFAW to our new location is the increased space to do big, one-of-a-kind events," said TFAW Vice President Andrew McIntire. "We're excited to have Kirby Krackle and H2Awesome come and blow the doors off!"
This is the first West Coast tour for New York's H2Awesome, which includes Charlie LaGreca (artist/illustrator for DC Comics, co-founder/director of Denver Comic-Con), Jeff LaGreca (writer/director of Bijou and the 'Bots, Gargoyle Garden, and Elfland), Jon Price (writer/creator of Magus and 12 Gauge Comics), Matt van Metre, and Gregg Zehentner.
Water/sodas and light snacks provided. CDs for both bands will be available for purchase. Make sure to come to the Portland TFAW 7/15 for an evening of geeky fun!
