EXCLUSIVE: "Arrow" Brings Back Amy Gumenick as Cupid
The ToonSeum is pleased to announce that the next Pittsburgh Indy Comics Expo (PIX) will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at The Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers Building, located at 10 South 19th Street on the Southside.
PIX is devoted solely to creator-owned, self-published, small-press, and handmade comics, artists books and other visual works. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
The event will give Pittsburghers the opportunity to survey and sample a wide variety of works produced by the far ranging talents of the comics artists and cartoonists currently flourishing in the Pittsburgh region as well as meet and interact with the creators
themselves. In addition, PIX attendees can expect to experience examples of independently produced and published, creator-owned work from the rest of North America and around the world.
Confirmed special guests this year include renowned comics artist, writer and historian Trina Robbins, visionary comics artist and illustrator, Theo Ellsworth and Pittsburgh’s own Jim Rugg, artist/illustrator/graphic designer extraordinaire and co-creator of Street Angel and Afrodisiac. Additional guests to be announced.
The exhibitors room will be open from 10:00am to 5:00pm. This will be followed - after a dinner break - by four hours of programming, from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. Programming will include artist presentations and panel discussions as well as educational and
historical lectures. Details to be announced.
The ToonSeum is located at 945 Liberty Avenue, downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. The mission of the ToonSeum is to celebrate the art of cartooning. Our goal is to promote a deeper appreciation of the cartoonists and their work through hands-on workshops, community outreach, cartoon-oriented educational programming, and exhibitions of original cartoon art.
