Michael Rose has awakened in a strange place: a city block from which there is no escape, watched over by a monstrous guardian. Every one of the other denizens carries with them some secret pain, but are they wardens or fellow prisoners? While Michael hunts for escape from Butcher Street, he learns that the only way out is in.
