Beth Behrs, one of the two leads from CBS' hit sitcom "2 Broke Girls," has co-created and co-written a new digital comic with her best friend, actor and singer/songwriter Matt Doyle. The comic, "Dents" will be exclusively released through the digital platform LINE Webtoon. No artist has yet been named for the series, though the first promotional art is by "Legend of Wonder Woman" artists Renae De Liz and Ray Dillon.
According to the official press release, "Dents" is a about a 14-year-old girl named Eleanor who learns that she was secretly separated from her twin at birth. Eleanor grows up in the year 2111, where more than half of the world population has been wiped out by an ancient deadly plague released by the melting polar ice caps due to global warming.
A vaccine is eventually created, but a side-effect is a huge rise in the birth of twins, all of whom possess mysterious and dangerous powers and come to be known by the rest of society as "Dents." Eleanor, when she discovers she has a twin, is swept into a mysterious underground society populated by other exiled Dents who have bonded together to survive.
"Matt and I have been best friends since childhood and I have to give him all the credit for introducing me to the comic book world," Behrs said in the press release. "We are so excited to be writing this together and working with LINE Webtoon. Much of the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of the San Francisco Bay Area where Matt and I grew up. Our heroine, Eleanor, is a strong, young, powerful, complicated girl and we are incredibly excited to share her journey with the world."
"Dents" is set to be released through LINE Webtoon this spring. Behrs is set to appear at LINE Webtoon's "Women in Digital Comics" panel Friday, March 18 at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
