Felicity's fate is still up in the air for "Arrow's" midseason premiere.

Last week, a handful of photos showing Felicity in a wheelchair sparked rumors that the character would become Oracle on "Arrow." However, executive producer Wendy Mericle has since denied this theory, calling it "off the table."

"That's something we definitely talked about [doing] with Felicity in the beginning…. But yeah, it will not be Oracle, sadly," Mericle revealed to TVLine. "People have to tune in to see what happens."

In the comics, Barbara Gordon -- who was, for many years, Batgirl -- was paralyzed during an encounter with the Joker; she then assumed the name Oracle and became the tech guru for the Bat family, the Birds of Prey and other superheroes. The photos that surfaced last week led many to believe Felicity would fill a similar role on the show.

Starring Stephen Amell, Neal McDonough, David Ramsey and Emily Bett Rickards, "Arrow" returns to The CW on Wednesday, January 20 at 8/7C.
