Over the past 75 years, the name Bruce Wayne has become almost as well-known as the fictional playboy's superhero alter ego, Batman. Playing Bruce Wayne, the man behind the bat, is as big of a task as playing the Dark Knight himself -- and starting with March's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Ben Affleck will be the actor taking on that challenge.

USA Today spoke with a number of people involved in bringing Bruce Wayne to life at the moment, including "BvS" director Zack Snyder and his Batman, Affleck.

“He’s confronted with a question of what is the point of his mission when he has to face the fact that there is a Superman alive in the world,” said Affleck. Affleck's version of Wayne has a distrust of the Man of Steel, which was born during the destructive battle in Metropolis in Superman's 2013 film. As revealed in the trailers for "BvS," Bruce Wayne witnessed the destructive might of Superman firsthand.

USA Today notes that Affleck plays Bruce Wayne as the alter-ego of Batman, positioning "the philanthropist playboy as another way to feed the hole that he feels of emptiness inside him, just as much as going out and fighting bad guys at night.”

Affleck's director Snyder agreed with him: "[The character] wears it well. He’s as confident in his mask as Bruce Wayne as his real persona of Batman.”

Directed by Snyder and starring Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams and more, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens on March 25, 2016.
