In addition to featuring possibly the most superheroes ever assembled in one feature film, Marvel Studios' "Captain America: Civil War" will also feature a sizable cast of human supporting characters. Joining that cast of supporting players, which includes Martin Freeman and William Hurt as Everett Ross and General Thunderbolt Ross, will be Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts.

"Empire" magazine's "Civil War" coverage confirms that Gwyneth Paltrow was involved with "Civil War" reshoots along with Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., which most likely took place in mid-January. Paltrow's character has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the very beginning, as she debuted in 2008's "Iron Man" and has appeared in every subsequent "Iron Man" film as well as 2012's "Avengers." Although Potts was mentioned in 2015's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," she was last seen in a film in 2013's "Iron Man 3."

"Civil War" co-director Joe Russo also spoke about the connection this May's Marvel movie has to the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War," which arrives in 2018 and 2019. “We wanted 'Winter Soldier,' 'Civil War,' and the 'Infinity War' films to have a strong through line. We look at this movie as setting the stage for 'Infinity War,' how it starts and what condition everybody is in.”

Additionally, "Empire" has interviews with the Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, "Civil War's" screenwriters. The duo previously wrote "Captain America: Winter Soldier" and are returning to write "Infinity War."

“We’ve written three movies about a pretty stoic guy, and now we get to write for all the gang,” said McFeely when asked about the difference between the solo Captain America films and "Infinity War." “But 'Civil War' was a walk in the park compared to these other two. We’re writing scenes for characters that haven’t been cast yet…” It's likely that McFeely is referencing Captain Marvel, the lone Marvel hero with a solo film on the slate that has yet to be cast. But it's also possible that he's referring to any number of characters that have yet to be revealed.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Rudd and more, "Captain America: Civil War" opens on May 6, 2016.
