"Beasts of Burden" is back at Dark Horse Comics, with writer a href="/tag/evan+dorkin">Evan Dorkin and artist Jill Thompson reuniting for a one-shot scheduled for release in May, titled " "Beasts of Burden: What the Cat Dragged In!" Sarah Dyer, Dorkin's frequent creative collaborator and wife, co-wrote the issue, making her return to the series following 2006's "A Dog and His Boy."

Here's the official description of the issue, dubbed a "perfect entry point" for readers new to the series: "When curiosity gets the best of Burden Hill’s cats (and one reluctant raccoon), sleeping demons are awakened and black magic is unleashed on the town of Burden Hill."

The "Beasts of Burden" characters -- intelligent animals who investigate paranormal activity -- first appeared in 2003's "The Dark Horse Book of Hauntings," and the stories have received multiple Eisner awards. The characters were last seen in 2014's "Beasts of Burden: Hunters and Gatherers."

"Beasts of Burden: What the Cat Dragged In!" is scheduled for release on May 4.
